Dr. Dan Perez began his educational journey after discharging from the Army in 2005. He found that his experiences offered a unique perspective on life and decided that he would use this perspective to help others in any way that he could. While in college, Dr. Perez became fascinated with psychology and trying to understand the process of resilience after traumatic or extremely difficult experiences. This fascination transformed into a desire to learn more about morality and how we as humans determine right from wrong. Each of these experiences advanced Dr. Perez's understanding of the human experience and allow him to utilize his research in therapy to assist his patients.
The Black Diamond is a symbol that distinguishes one entity from the another. Whether it is used on the slopes to signify a path that is reserved for those with more skiing experience, or as a symbol of strength, resilience, and personal transformation from a holistic perspective, the Black Diamond is set apart from the ordinary. The Black Diamond is also a symbol that has been used by the first Airborne Division, the 1/501st, since World War II. This symbol is still sewn to the helmets of 501st paratroopers. This is the mission of Black Diamond Psychological Services: to be held to a higher standard while providing individualized treatment that assists in your personal growth.
Dr. Perez served in the U.S. Army as an enlisted Airborne Infantryman. He was stationed in Fort Richardson, AK with the 1/501st Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR). In 2003, he was deployed to FOB Salerno (Khost, Afghanistan) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His medals and awards include: Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Marksman Badge.
